The city of Bluffton is located within Wells County, Indiana and is currently the county seat and contains the townships of Harrison and Lancaster. The city was founded in 1838 and was named after river bluffs near the original town site. Bluffton has been the object of state, national and international attention because of its recognized leadership and award-winning programs.
